The range from shortest to longest configuration is 36.1 inches — just over three feet. A cover manufactured to fit the regular cab standard bed will leave 36 inches of the crew cab long bed unprotected at the rear. A cover sized for the crew cab long bed will produce 36 inches of pooled, wind-catching fabric on a regular cab standard bed. Neither outcome is acceptable for a truck that costs $65,000–$90,000 new.
The cab/bed combination must be specified at purchase. Not the approximate truck size, not the model year alone — the exact cab configuration and bed length. These are not interchangeable within the T1XX Sierra 3500HD lineup.
02The DRW Question: Why Dually Geometry Is Not a Minor Variation

03Sierra 3500HD vs. Silverado 3500HD: The Badge That Does Not Change the Cover
The Sierra 3500HD and the Silverado 3500HD share the T1XX heavy-duty platform. Body dimensions for matching configurations are identical — same wheelbase, same cab geometry, same bed length, same overall length at every row in the matrix. GMC and Chevrolet use different grilles and badge placements, but the structural body from the A-pillar rearward is the same architecture.
A Sierra 3500HD crew cab long bed and a Silverado 3500HD crew cab long bed of the same T1XX generation are the same length, same width, same height. The cover that fits one fits the other. Specify the T1XX cab and bed configuration — not the badge.
04What Snow Actually Does to a Sierra 3500HD Over a Full Winter
The Sierra 3500HD's geometry creates specific snow accumulation and road salt exposure patterns that a smaller truck does not share. Understanding these patterns explains why the cover specification matters and why breathability is not optional.
Flat cab roof and snow load. The T1XX roofline is relatively flat. After a 6-inch snowfall, the cab roof holds significant weight and snowmelt.
