From Arizona sun to Colorado hail — every DaShield cover is pressure-tested before it ships.
Why this vehicle needs the right cover
The Acura TL spent twenty years as the professional daily driver of choice — and the parking lot, office structure, and driveway exposure that came with that use pattern accumulates UV radiation directly onto a paint system with a known vulnerability. Honda/Acura's clear coat formulation used across 2001–2007 TL production delaminates under sustained UV photon load rather than fading gradually. Once peeling starts, the correction is a professional respray starting at $1,800 per panel.
DaShield's UHD for the Acura TL is a 5-layer woven construction, Designed in Buena Park, California, that blocks UV photons from reaching the clear coat and allows thermal heat to dissipate rather than concentrating against the paint surface. Four generations of TL production created an 8.8-inch cumulative growth in body length — cover fit requires the correct generation pattern, not a generic sedan approximation. Year and variant input at purchase determines the pattern for your specific TL, whether Gen 1 UA1/UA2, Gen 3 Type-S, or Gen 4 SH-AWD. The UHD carries a 5-year warranty. Price: $199.
Acura TL cover priorities
Engineered for the Acura TL
Three priorities drove the Ultimum's design: lateral energy dispersion under point-load impact, all-weather outdoor durability for vehicles that park outside year-round, and a fit precise enough to maintain body contact during storm conditions.
The first priority — energy dispersion — is addressed by the multi-layer woven construction. Each woven layer adds a lateral force-transfer pathway. More pathways mean more of the hailstone's kinetic energy distributes across the fabric surface before reaching the panel below. The Ultimum does not carry a numbered layer count in its name because the construction is a continuous woven assembly, not a stack of discrete sheets. The architecture is the protection.
The second priority — outdoor durability — is addressed by the waterproof barrier integrated into the woven assembly and the UV-resistant yarn treatment. A cover that degrades in its first season of sun and rain exposure is not a permanent outdoor solution. The Ultimum carries a Lifetime warranty because the materials are rated for continuous outdoor exposure, not periodic use.
The third priority — fit — is addressed by vehicle-model-specific patterning. The Ultimum at $209 for car fitments is not a universal-fit cover. It is patterned to hood geometry, trunk profile, mirror dimensions, and rocker panel length for the specific vehicle. Fit determines whether the cover maintains surface contact during wind-driven hail. A cover that billows or gaps at the quarter panel has reduced the lateral dispersion mechanism at exactly the moment it matters.
These three properties are not independent. A cover that disperses energy but does not stay on the car during a storm has failed at the system level. The Ultimum is designed as a system.
