The Chevrolet Caprice ran across three civilian generations with meaningfully different body profiles: the 1971–1976 B-body at 222.9 inches, the downsized 1977–1990 body at approximately 212.0 inches, and the 1991–1996 fourth generation at 214.1 inches. A cover specified to the wrong generation will leave the rear section exposed on the longer B-body or carry surplus fabric that pools and lifts on the shorter generations. For the 1975 Caprice Classic convertible — the last full-size American convertible of its era — cover selection also requires inner-face construction that does not compress or abrade the folded soft top during extended storage.

DaShield's Vanguard UHD is a 5-layer woven cover with a soft inner face engineered for repeated daily contact with original and refinished paint without generating micro-abrasion at the roof crown, door panels, or trunk lid. For long-term preservation of a 1975 convertible or any fourth-generation Caprice, the Ultimum provides the deepest UV and moisture protection with lifetime warranty coverage. For decommissioned B4C police Caprices entering civilian ownership, the same fourth-generation cover dimensions apply.

Designed in Buena Park, California. Specified to 1971–1976, 1977–1990, and 1991–1996 generation dimensions. Available in UHD, Ultimum, HD, and SoftTec Satin for indoor storage.

Most car covers list "full-size sedan" as their fit category for the Chevrolet Caprice. The 1971–1976 B-body at 222.9 inches and the 1991–1996 fourth generation at 214.1 inches are both technically full-size sedans — but they differ by 8.8 inches in length. A cover correctly sized for one will expose the rear section on the other, or carry 8 inches of surplus fabric that creates pooling geometry during rain exposure and wind-lift points during outdoor storage. That 10-inch gap between the B-body and the downsized 1977 generation is a body specification event, not a trim difference, and it requires an independent cover specification.

DaShield addresses this with generation-specific fit patterns for the 1971–1976 B-body at 222.9 inches, the 1977–1990 downsized body ranging from approximately 212.0 to 215.0 inches, and the 1991–1996 fourth generation at 214.1 inches. The 1975 Caprice Classic convertible — a preservation-tier vehicle by any collector standard — receives the Ultimum specification with soft inner-face construction that does not apply abrasive contact to the folded soft top during extended storage cycles.

The Vanguard UHD inner face is designed to contact single-stage lacquer and enamel finishes — common on surviving 1971–1976 and 1977–1990 Caprices — without the abrasive particle shedding that characterizes non-woven polypropylene inner faces. Single-stage finishes are softer than modern multi-stage urethane clearcoats and accumulate contact-abrasion damage from inadequate inner faces at a rate not visible until months of damage have compounded on the roof crown, trunk lid, and door panel surfaces.

Five-layer woven laminate construction. Soft inner face. AATCC 16 UV resistance standard. Generation-specific fit for 1971–1976, 1977–1990, and 1991–1996 bodies. Wipe-down maintenance only for all woven lines. 5-year warranty on the Vanguard UHD. Lifetime warranty on the Ultimum for preservation-grade storage.
