Why this vehicle needs the right cover
The Lincoln Town Car was built across three generations spanning 1981 to 2011, each with a distinct body length: Gen 1 approximately 219.7 inches, Gen 2 approximately 218.8 inches, and Gen 3 approximately 215.3 inches. Every Town Car on the road today is at minimum 13 years old, and the preservation challenges are specific: chrome-heavy exterior trim vulnerable to moisture entrapment, optional vinyl roof treatments that deteriorate under UV exposure, and a history of commercial fleet use that accelerates exterior aging. A cover sized to the wrong generation creates rear-quarter tension that produces paint wear on every removal cycle. A cover without UV transmission resistance accelerates vinyl roof delamination that cannot be corrected with surface treatment.
DaShield's Vanguard UHD is a 5-layer woven cover with a soft inner face, AATCC 16 UV resistance, and moisture vapor transmission properties suited to chrome-intensive vehicles. For Gen 3 owners in outdoor storage, UHD addresses UV accumulation, chrome surface moisture management, and inner-face paint contact simultaneously.
Designed in Buena Park, California. Specified to Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3 dimensional differences. Available in UHD, Ultimum, HD, and SoftTec Satin for indoor storage. Note: standard covers fit factory-body Town Cars only — limousine conversions require custom sizing.
Lincoln Town Car cover priorities
Engineered for the Lincoln Town Car
Most car covers address the Lincoln Town Car as a generic full-size sedan. The Town Car is not generic — it is a chrome-dominant body-on-frame design produced in three distinct lengths across 30 years of production, with a vinyl roof option that degrades through a mechanism that paint correction cannot address, and a significant percentage of units that spent their working lives parked outdoors in commercial fleet environments.
DaShield specifies by generation. Gen 1 at 219.7 inches, Gen 2 at 218.8 inches, and Gen 3 at 215.3 inches are not interchangeable fits. The length difference between the longest and shortest generation spans more than four inches — the difference between a cover that drapes correctly at the rear and one that contacts the rear quarter panel under tension with every use cycle.
The chrome exterior treatment on all Town Car generations requires moisture vapor transmission, not just weather resistance. Chrome pitting begins at the nickel-chrome interface when moisture is trapped against the plating — a non-breathable cover in a temperature-cycling environment creates exactly the condition that drives this failure mode. The Vanguard UHD's woven construction allows the surface beneath the cover to exchange vapor with the environment, reducing the trapped-moisture risk at chrome trim.
For Gen 2 vinyl top variants, AATCC 16 UV resistance is the key specification. Vinyl plasticizer breakdown is a photo-oxidation process — UV transmission resistance slows it. Reskinning a vinyl roof costs $500 to $1,500 and does not restore original appearance. The Ultimum's multi-layer woven construction provides maximum available UV protection with a lifetime warranty for owners prioritizing long-term vinyl preservation. Wipe-down maintenance only for all woven lines. Gen-specific fit confirmed at point of purchase.
