The Pontiac GTO ran across four completely different body architectures: the 1964-1967 A-body coupe and convertible, the 1968-1972 Endura-bumper restyling with its longer and lower profile, the 1973-1974 Colonnade platform that was a different GM intermediate chassis entirely, and the 2004-2006 GTO built on the Australian Holden Monaro VZ platform. These four cars share a name badge and nothing structural. A cover patterned for a 1966 GTO will not seat correctly on a 1969 GTO. Neither will fit a 2004 GTO.

For the GTO specifically, three protection priorities drive cover specification.

Original GTOs stored in climate-controlled garages for most of the year — matching-numbers cars trailered to shows, off-season storage — do not need waterproof laminate or UV-blocking outer layers.
