The Pontiac Solstice is the lowest-roofed vehicle Pontiac ever produced — 49.5 inches at the raised soft-top stack — and that dimension is the one most generic roadster covers ignore. A cover built to a taller small-convertible reference pattern reaches tension at the soft-top mound before it can conform to the door tops and rear quarters, pulling laterally across the paint and compressing fabric against the vinyl top material. Over time, that contact produces abrasion along the door tops and compression damage to the soft-top weatherstripping.

At 49.5 inches with the soft-top raised, the Solstice sits below the reference height most cover manufacturers use for their small-convertible pattern. DaShield measures the raised soft-top stack geometry directly and patterns the rear section of the cover to that profile. The front is proportioned to the Solstice's 159.8-inch overall length and 95.1-inch wheelbase — shorter than most sports cars in the same class, and a dimension that causes front-corner billowing on covers sized for longer bodies. The result is a cover that anchors at the hem, seats correctly at the rear soft-top stack, and does not pull laterally across the door top paint.

Second priority: Outdoor paint protection across the Solstice's age range.

Every Solstice in use today is at minimum 16 years old. Clear coat on a vehicle of this age has accumulated UV load, wash cycles, and minor surface contact that have thinned the protective layer above the base coat. The breathable construction allows moisture vapor to pass through rather than trapping humidity against the paint surface — critical for a convertible where soft-top seams can allow minor moisture ingress. The Solstice body is dimensionally unchanged from 2006 through the 2009 convertible. No mid-cycle redesign, no wheelbase change, no roofline alteration.
