The Subaru WRX and WRX STI are not the same shape under a cover. The standard WRX uses a front-bottom intercooler intake with a lower hood scoop profile. The WRX STI uses a top-mount intercooler with a raised center dome that sits roughly two inches higher at the hood centerline. A cover that does not account for this difference contacts the STI scoop under wind load — creating repeated abrasion pressure against the scoop lip and hood edge paint.

The WRX's front-bottom intake scoop and the STI's top-mount intercooler dome require different hood clearance profiles in the cover pattern. DaShield drafts each variant as a separate fitment — the cover drapes around the scoop geometry rather than resting on top of it. This prevents the abrasion contact that occurs when wind pushes a poorly fit cover against a raised scoop lip.

GD (2002–2007), GH/GR (2008–2014), VA (2015–2021), and VB (2022+) are four different body shapes. Each generation changed body width, hood line, and roofline proportions.
