The Audi A4 spans five generations of production — B5 (1996–2001), B6 (2002–2005), B7 (2005–2008), B8 (2009–2016), and B9 (2017–present) — with nearly 9 inches of overall length growth across those generations and three distinct body variants in each: sedan, Avant wagon, and allroad.

The Avant adds approximately 2 inches of overall length over the sedan due to the extended rear roofline and liftgate overhang; the allroad adds 1.5 inches of ground clearance above the Avant, changing the lower-body hem geometry.
For B8 and B9 models, Audi's large-format panoramic sunroof — standard on Premium Plus and Prestige trims — creates a different roofline profile from base-trim models and requires a separately mapped cover pattern.
The S4 performance variant uses wider 19-inch wheel fitment that alters the lower-body profile at the wheel arch openings. On Midnight Black Metallic and Mythos Black Metallic finishes, any micro-abrasion from cover contact is visible as a scuff line at the first detailing inspection.

First, generation-specific fit precision across five body generations and three body variants. The B5 sedan at 178.2 inches and the B9 sedan at 187.4 inches are not the same cover pattern — nearly 9 inches of dimensional growth separates them, and a cover sized to the larger body produces a rear hem gap that becomes the wind-driven abrasion contact point. DaShield patterns the A4 at each generation transition and branches by body style — sedan, Avant, and allroad — within each generation. For B8 and B9 models, the panoramic sunroof on Premium Plus and Prestige trims creates a wider glass arc requiring separate roofline mapping. Second, abrasion protection for high-contrast dark metallic paint. Midnight Black Metallic and Mythos Black Metallic are the A4 color choices most susceptible to visible micro-abrasion from cover contact — particulate trapped between a moving cover and the painted surface produces clearcoat damage visible as a scuff line before correction is possible. The Vanguard UHD's soft inner lining eliminates the contact-force component; the 5-layer woven outer eliminates the particulate-entry gap that a loose-fitting generic cover leaves at the hem. The cover is the only barrier that remains on the car while it sits. Paint correction runs $400–$1,200; clearcoat respray when correction is no longer viable runs $1,800–$3,500.
