The outer layer is a multi-layer woven laminate. During a hail event, impact force distributes laterally across the weave structure instead of transmitting directly to the metal panel. On a flat truck bed — the largest horizontal surface on the vehicle and the one that takes perpendicular hail contact — that lateral distribution matters more than on the angled surfaces of the cab.
The interior uses a soft fleece lining so the cover does not contact bare paint. Two-way breathable laminate construction lets water vapor escape outward and blocks liquid water from entering.
