From Arizona sun to Colorado hail — every DaShield cover is pressure-tested before it ships.
Why this SUV needs the right cover
The Ford Edge parks outdoors by design — school lots, shopping centers, suburban driveways — and Ford's Oxford White and Silver Metallic finishes accumulate UV damage exactly where the body sits flattest to the sun: the hood and roof.
UV bleaching on Oxford White begins as surface haze, progresses to visible chalking, and requires professional paint correction or respray to reverse.
The Edge's optional panoramic roof adds a second exposure vector: a large glass panel that admits UV into the cabin while trapping solar heat, pushing interior temperatures to 160–170°F on a summer day.
DaShield covers the Ford Edge with a generation-specific woven pattern — Gen 1 CD3 platform (2007–2014, 183.6 in) and Gen 2 CD4 platform (2015–2024, 188.8 in) are dimensionally distinct, and the 5.2-inch rear overhang gap between them is not bridgeable with adjustment.
The cover blocks UV at the body surface, keeps the paint system below the photo-oxidation threshold, and drops the cabin heat-soak load before it reaches the panoramic glass. Designed in Buena Park, California.
Ford Edge cover priorities
Engineered for the Ford Edge
Three specifications separate a winter-rated SUV cover from a general-purpose outdoor cover in a snow state.
First: directional vapor transport. Breathable woven laminate allows moisture trapped between cover and paint to exit outward. Non-breathable covers — including many sold as "winter covers" — block liquid water from entering but also trap water vapor from the vehicle's thermal cycling. That trapped vapor condenses against the paint and sits through every freeze cycle. Minneapolis sees 40 to 50 freeze-thaw events per season. By spring, the trapped-moisture damage is indistinguishable from normal aging.
Second: flat-panel load distribution. A compact SUV roof spans 12 to 14 square feet. A midsize, 14 to 18. A full-size SUV can exceed 20 square feet. Wet compacted snow at 50-plus pounds per cubic foot creates load stress at the flat center panel — not at the edges, where most covers reinforce by default. DaShield's construction distributes that load across the full surface.
Third: fleece inner for thermal buffering. The Ultimum carries a fleece inner face that buffers temperature swings at the paint surface. When a full-size SUV cycles through a hard overnight freeze and a 40°F afternoon, the thermal mass of the metal generates condensation even under a breathable outer. The fleece layer absorbs and releases that vapor rather than allowing it to pool against the clear coat.
DaShield Ultimum: Lifetime Warranty. Ultimum Lite: 5-Year. Vanguard UHD: 5-Year.
