The Acura MDX spans four generations and 8 inches of cumulative length growth — from the 188.4-inch YD1 to the 196.4-inch YD4. A cover sized to one generation will not fit correctly on another, and an MDX parked outdoors in California, Texas, Florida, or Arizona accumulates UV exposure on days when paint protection was never the concern — until clearcoat oxidation makes it the only concern. Lunar Silver Metallic and Majestic Black Pearl, two of the MDX's highest-volume colors, are multi-stage metallic finishes where UV-driven clearcoat hazing produces visible dullness and metallic flake depth loss that Stage 2 paint correction charges $1,800–$3,500 to reverse.

DaShield's Vanguard UHD is a 5-layer woven cover with a soft inner face designed to block UV from the MDX's paint surface without generating the swirl marks produced by non-woven fabric covers on metallic finishes. Specified to YD1, YD2, YD3, and YD4 generation dimensions — including YD3 Sport Hybrid rear fascia geometry and YD4 Type S front grille structure. Designed in Buena Park, California.

Why DaShield fits the MDX when generic covers do not.

Most SUV cover sizing tiers group vehicles by approximate length class. The Acura MDX changes body dimensions by a total of 8 inches across four generations — 188.4" (YD1), 191.3" (YD2), 194.0" (YD3), 196.4" (YD4) — and carries two trim-specific fit variables that generic measurements miss entirely. A cover patterned to a single MDX measurement produces either pooling fabric or tension contact at the panels it does not match.

1. Generation-specific dimensional fit, not SUV-class approximation. DaShield specifications are matched to YD1, YD2, YD3, and YD4 body geometry using Acura/Honda manufacturer dimension data. Specify your model year at purchase — the 8-inch cumulative gap across generations is too large for a single cover pattern to absorb without visible fit error at the front or rear quarter.

2. YD3 Sport Hybrid and YD4 Type S trim accommodation. The YD3 Sport Hybrid has a modified rear bumper profile and different rear badge placement compared to the standard YD3. The YD4 Type S has a wider, more forward-set front grille structure compared to the standard YD4. Both trim variants require specification at purchase to ensure the cover drapes correctly at the fascia geometry specific to those trims.

3. Woven inner face for Lunar Silver Metallic and Majestic Black Pearl protection. Non-woven polypropylene covers shed loose fiber particulates onto the paint surface during removal, generating swirl marks on metallic finishes by dragging abrasive material across the clearcoat. The Vanguard UHD's woven inner face does not shed fibers. For MDX owners in sunbelt markets where UV is already degrading the clearcoat, adding cover-induced swirl marks compounds the damage profile. Woven construction addresses both threats — UV blocking on the outer face, non-abrasive contact on the inner face.
