The Dodge Dakota ran from 1987 through 2011 across three generations — Regular Cab, Club Cab, and Quad Cab configurations with 6.5-foot or 8-foot beds — producing an overall length range of approximately 188 inches to 229 inches across the full production run. Full-size truck covers are too large for every Dakota configuration. Compact-truck covers fall short on long-bed and extended-cab variants. Standard "mid-size truck cover" sizing does not account for the 41-inch length spread the Dakota produces across its cab and bed matrix.

DaShield cover specifications for the Dakota are matched to generation, cab configuration, and bed length — not to a generic mid-size category. Every existing Dakota is at minimum 13 years old, and the UV exposure profile for outdoor storage in Sun Belt regions produces measurable clearcoat degradation on vehicles at this age and exposure level. The Vanguard HD provides 4-layer woven UV resistance and a soft inner face for daily-use outdoor parking. The Vanguard UHD adds a fifth layer and 5-year warranty for extended outdoor storage. The Ultimum carries a lifetime warranty for preserved R/T and SRT-10 collector vehicles.

Designed in Buena Park, California. Specified to all three Dakota generations. Confirm cab configuration and bed length before ordering.

The Dodge Dakota does not fit into full-size or compact truck cover categories — and it does not fit into a single mid-size category either, because cab configuration and bed length produce a 41-inch length spread across the production run. A seller who does not require cab configuration and bed length confirmation is shipping you a guess. DaShield cover specifications are built from generation-specific dimensional data, not a mid-size bracket.

Gen 1 (1987–1996) covers only Regular Cab with 6.5-foot or 8-foot bed, producing approximately 188 to 205 inches. Gen 2 (1997–2004) adds Club Cab, extending the upper length to approximately 219 inches. Gen 3 (2005–2011) adds Quad Cab with an available long bed, reaching approximately 229 inches at the longest configuration. A cover sized to a Gen 1 Regular Cab short-bed leaves 41 inches of material hanging off a Gen 3 Quad Cab long-bed. That excess does not protect — it flaps under wind loading, traps debris under the cover, and contacts the tailgate and rear quarter panels under movement-amplified force on every gusty day.

All existing Dakotas are now at least 13 years old. In high-UV regions, the clearcoat on a vehicle at this age has already been thinned by prior exposure, meaning continued unprotected outdoor storage compounds damage at an accelerating rate. The Vanguard HD covers daily-use trucks with 4-layer woven construction rated to AATCC 16 UV resistance standards and a 2-year warranty. The Vanguard UHD adds a fifth woven layer and 5-year warranty for extended outdoor storage. The Ultimum carries a lifetime warranty for preserved collector-grade Dakotas — R/T and SRT-10 owners for whom condition is the primary asset. Soft inner face on all woven lines. Wipe-down maintenance only — no machine washing.
